Programs of Study

Foreign citizens can apply for the following programs of study at NSTU:
  • Graduate and postgraduate programs
  • Russian language courses (university preparatory courses, short-term courses, summer schools, preparation for the Test of Russian as a Foreign Language, including for the purposes of obtaining Russian citizenship, etc.)
  • Programs of further professional education and training
The language of instruction is Russian.

The level of the Russian language proficiency of applicants should be TORFL-1 (B1) for Bachelor’s programs and TORFL-2 (B2) for Master’s, Ph. D., and Doctoral programs.

Tuition Fees

Tuition fees in 2016–2017 academic year:
Russian language courses (university preparatory courses) and Russian as a Foreign Language  –  120000 rubles per year

Foreign citizens can study at the University on the fee-paying or state budget basis (in case of interstate agreement).

Learning Russian

University Preparatory Course

University preparatory course in Russian is designed for those who are planning to apply for undergraduate or graduate educational programs (technical, economic, humanitarian).

The duration of the course is 1 year.

Tuition fees: 120000 rub. (2100 USD) per year.

General Russian Courses
The course duration ranges from 3 months to 3 years.

Preparatory Department at the Faculty of Pre-University Education for foreign students
  • Preparation for entrance to university, 1 year, profiles
– engineering (Russian, engineering Russian, mathematics, physics, computer graphics, informatics (user language));
–  natural sciences (Russian, natural sciences Russian, mathematics, physics, chemistry, informatics (user language));

Admission procedures

To be admitted to Novosibirsk State Technical University it is necessary to:
  1. Fill out the application form and send an email with your contact information, home postal address and telephone number to the university administration at inter@inter.nstu.ru;
  2. Send a copy of your international passport and a notarized copy of your education certificate in English or Russian required for admission to the corresponding level of higher professional education at: inter@inter.nstu.ru;
  3. Receive a reply from the University administration;
  4. Pay the processing fee of $130 or E100 to the University bank account and email a copy of the bank receipt to: inter@inter.nstu.ru;
  5. Receive the entry documents: an invitation from the Federal Migration Service of RF, an invitation from NSTU, an enrollment contract (sent within 1 month);
  6. Inform the administration about your arrival before the beginning of the term (the date, time, flight number, etc.) at: inter@inter.nstu.ru or by phone: +7 (383) 346 05 11;
  7. Present the following documents upon arrival to the University:
    • International passport;
    • HIV/AIDS certificate;
    • Health certificate in English, Russian (French, Spanish)confirming your ability to study at a higher educational institution;
    • A document of education equivalent to a state-recognized document of education required in the Russian Federation to apply to a corresponding level of higher professional education and its notarized translation into Russian certified by the Embassy (Consulate) of the Russian Federation in the country where the document of education was issued;
    • six photographs (size 4х6).

Your application package will only be processed when it contains a complete set of required documents.

  • A copy of the international passport;
  • A document verifying the level of the Russian language proficiency.
Upon arrival to the University you should present the following documents:
  1. The original of the Certificate (Diploma) of Secondary (Complete) General Education (including the academic transcript) translated into Russian.
  2. 2 copies of the Certificate (Diploma) of Secondary (Complete) General Education (including the academic transcript) notarized at the Russian Embassy (Consulate) in the country where the document was issued.
  3. 2 copies of the Certificate (Diploma) of Secondary (Complete) General Education (including the academic transcript) translated into Russian notarized at the Russian Embassy (Consulate) in the country where the document was issued.
  4. The certificate verifying the level of the Russian language proficiency (not lower than B1) issued by the Main Office of the Russian Language Testing Center for Foreigners.

Master’s Degree Program

Accommodation

All NSTU faculties and halls of residence are located on campus at the metro station “Studencheskaya”. There is a well-organised transportation system connecting the campus with all parts of the city. International students live in the “Universitetskaya” hotel (Hall of residence 6).

The living quarters are comprised of rooms accommodating 2-3 people equipped with a separate toilet, wash basin and bathtub.

The cost of accommodation in a double room is 4020 rub.  (USD 70)/month/1 place; in a triple room - 4400 rub. (USD 76) month/1 place.


Medical Insurance and Services

Upon arrival at the University all foreign students and trainees from both CIS and non-CIS countries have to buy a medical insurance policy.

The policy covers medical consultations, tests, checkups, treatment, hospitalization to NSTU clinic and medical center "Medicofarmservice".

The policy costs 3000 rub. (52 USD) a year, insurance cover is 20 000 rub. The policy can be obtained at the NSTU’s Center for International Education.
