NSTU creates software of new generation that implements high-resolution methods for processing geological and prospecting data

At the Department of Applied Mathematics of Novosibirsk State Technical University, within the framework of the project funded by the federal program "Research and Development in Priority Areas for Development of the Scientific and Technological Complex of Russia for 2014-2020", software of new generation that implements high-resolution methods for processing geological exploration data was created. The project is aimed at solving the strategic task of prospecting and exploration of sea and shelf hydrocarbon reserves, including the Arctic basin, through the creation and subsequent introduction of efficient geological exploration technologies.
The software developed implements 3D modeling of electromagnetic fields in the shelf and deep sea conditions and 3D inversion of data from various marine electrical reconnaissance technologies; also equipped with convenient graphical interface, geared to a specialist of geological and geophysical profile. The accuracy of the geological forecast and the determination of well locations can be significantly improved with its use.
Implementation of the proposed scientific and technical products into the production process with an insignificant total increase in the cost of work (according to estimates it will be about 10%) will allow to obtain a result of a fundamentally new quality and significantly reduce the total costs of geological exploration, including through more reasonable identification of drilling sites, and production wells.
