NSTU Rector Anatoly Bataev said that the University became one of the Winter Universiade 2019 Torch Relay sites. NSTU volunteers made significant contribution to the organization of the Student Games ceremony not only at the University, but also along the entire route of the Relay in the city.
"I would like to express my gratitude to the students and colleagues who welcomed and accompanied the Torch of the Winter Universiade 2019. Participation in the Torch Relay of the Universiade was very important for us," Anatoly Batayev added. "The infrastructure that was created in Krasnoyarsk will serve the city, the region and the whole country for decades and will contribute to the development of sports."
Stella Alekseeva, deputy head of the Winter Universiade 2019 Directorate noted during the presentation of the Torch: "Those cities that took part in the Universiade Torch Relay are worthy to leave the Torch as a token. We are grateful to NSTU for being a part of the student sports history, for the assistance in the organization and holding of the Winter Universiade 2019 Torch Relay".
Previously, Novosibirsk hosted the Torch Relay of the 29th Winter Universiade 2019 on December 11, 2018. Torchbearers started from the territory of Novosibirsk State Technical University, visited the central streets of the city on the left and right banks of the Ob and finished at Alexander Pimenov Square. The total length of the route was 2,600 m.
Among the twenty torchbearers were Igor Maksimov,
the winner of the Summer Universiade 2015 in athletics, Alena Zavarzina, bronze
Olympic medalist in snowboarding, Ambassador of the Winter Universiade 2019,
Dmitry Salnikov, the repeated winner of all-Russian competitions in ski racing,
Tatiana Galkina, the Chairman of the Siberian Bank PAO "Sberbank" ,
Denis Mikhrenin, the representative of Coca-Cola HBC Russia in Novosibirsk and
Larisa Moleganova, the CEO of official Russian national team supplier FORWARD
