The installation of the monument to the creator of NETI, an honorary citizen of Novosibirsk, Professor Georgy Pavlovich Lyshinsky was initiated by the Association of Graduates of NSTU-NETI and will be timed to coincide with the 75th anniversary of the Novosibirsk State Technical University (NETI). The monument will appear in a new park area on the Left Bank. The opening is scheduled for autumn 2025.
In early March, the project was approved by the artistic council of the City Hall, chaired by the chief architect of Novosibirsk, Alexander Lozhkin. The monument to Professor Geori Pavlovich Lyshinsky is being created by a creative group consisting of sculptor, Honored Artist of Russia Alexander Konstantinovich Krutikov, and architect, head of the Department of Architectural Environment Design NGUADI Alexander Alexandrovich Gamaley.
The idea of installing the monument arose in 2003, when the square on the left bank of Novosibirsk was named after Professor Lyshinsky. Different options for the installation of the monument were considered: on the territory of the NSTU-NETI and directly on Lyshinsky Square. The issue of the monument was actively discussed for the 70th anniversary of NSTU-NETI, but at that time there was a lot of debate about whether the monument to the rector should be located in the ring zone of a busy road without the possibility of approaching it. Should it be monumental, like the monument to A. I. Pokryshkin on Marx Square, or be democratic, like Georgy Pavlovich himself, so that students can take pictures with him and make it a good tradition? What should the first rector look like?
"Professor Lyschinsky will appear on the monument with a book in his hand, a scarf fluttering in the wind, and a coat. Georgy Pavlovich was very energetic, sociable, and skillfully and intelligently worked with students and teachers. Everything worked out for him. He never stood still, which is why he had such a dynamic image. The height of the monument will be 5.5 meters along with the pedestal. It was decided to make not only a monument but, also a square, from which a view of the right bank of Novosibirsk will open. We want it to be a gift to our city and university for its 75th anniversary. The approximate date of the monument's opening is the end of October 2025," said Vladimir Ponomarev, director of the NSTU-NETI Alumni Association.
The monument will be made of bronze, and the pedestal will be made of gray granite. The installation site has been agreed with the art council of the City Hall — Lyshinsky Square, on the site between K. Avenue. Marx and Blucher Street, in a new park area with cozy lanterns, benches, and modern landscaping. In the future, an information zone will be organized on this site, which will connect the monument to the first rector Lyshinsky and NSTU-NETI, and an excursion route will appear, involving a visit to the university campus.
