On November 1, the grand opening of the monument to the creator of the NETI, honorary citizen of Novosibirsk, Professor Georgy Pavlovich Lyshinsky, took place in the new park of the Left Bank. The installation of the monument was initiated by the NSTU-NETI Alumni Association and timed to coincide with the 75th anniversary of Novosibirsk State Technical University (NETI).
The first monument to the rector in Novosibirsk appeared at the intersection of Nemirovich-Danchenko Street and Karl Marx Avenue. The monument in the new square is a gift from the NSTU—NETI Alumni Association to the city in the year of the 75th anniversary of the university.
The family of Georgy Pavlovich Lyshinsky took part in the development of the artistic concept of the monument, the author was Alexander Krutikov, the sculptor, Honored Artist of Russia, the landscaping project of the square was developed under the supervision of architect Alexander Gamaley. The 3.3-meter-high bronze sculpture is mounted on a granite pedestal.
"It is important that the monument harmoniously fits into the environment. The square is a huge space, so the appropriate scale of the sculpture was needed — a full-length figure. In a conceptual sense, the monument is an axis around which movement is carried out. The layout of the square in the form of a semicircle supports a spatial solution with an emphasis on the central element of the composition," said sculptor Alexander Krutikov.
Pedestrian paths have been laid on the territory of the park, apple trees, rowan trees, lilac bushes have been planted, a lighting system has been installed and benches will soon be installed. The park area offers panoramic views of the Oktyabrsky Bridge and the right bank of the Ob River. In addition, an excursion route of NSTU-NETI — Lyschinsky Square has been developed.
The name of Georgy Pavlovich Lyshinsky is inextricably linked with the history of NETI: in 1955, he became the head of the institute, becoming its first rector and held this position for 35 years. It's hard to believe, but on the site of today's modern campus there were 20 hectares of potato fields with the foundation of the first dormitory. Under the leadership of Lyshinsky, the construction of the university began. 6 academic buildings, 7 dormitories, a canteen, 3 residential buildings for teachers, sports and recreation camps "Sharap" and "Erlagol", 10,000 students, 1,200 faculty members, including 50 doctors of sciences, about 600 candidates of sciences — these are the results of his 35-year tenure. the rector. In 1993, Georgy Pavlovich Lyshinsky was awarded the title of Honorary Citizen of Novosibirsk for his outstanding contribution to the development of engineering and technical education, the training of qualified engineering personnel, and the development of Russian science and technology.
"On the monument, Professor Lyschinsky appears with a book symbolizing the transfer of knowledge, with the skirts of his coat fluttering in the wind. Georgy Pavlovich was a very energetic, active person, he never stood still, which is why he created such a dynamic image," said Vladimir Ponomarev, director of the NSTU—NETI Alumni Association. He added that NETI graduates from Kaliningrad to Kamchatka participated in the financing of this project. The leading role was played by general sponsors — directors of enterprises and companies in Novosibirsk.
The opening ceremony was attended by top officials of the city and the region, members of the family of Georgy Pavlovich Lyshinsky, teachers, staff and students of the University, members of the NSTU-NETI Alumni Association, and industrial partners of the university.
"The NSTU-NETI Alumni Association has implemented a very important, large—scale project - a monument to the great man Georgy Pavlovich Lyshinsky. He stood at the origins of the foundation of a wonderful university. Thanks to the initiatives of Georgy Pavlovich, Novosibirsk has become the heart of the radioelectronic and nuclear industries, where aircraft manufacturing, IT and other areas are effectively developing. His talent, his abilities moved our region forward. I want to thank everyone involved, everyone who put their heart and soul into this monument," said Maxim Kudryavtsev, a graduate of NETI, the mayor of Novosibirsk.
Irina Manuylova, Deputy Governor of the Novosibirsk Region, welcomed all the participants. She noted that there are people whose name has actually become a legend, and the name of Georgy Pavlovich Lyshinsky is one of such names. "The monument that opens here today is a tribute to the man who not only founded the main university of Siberia. This is respect for the man who established the culture of engineering education in Siberia. I want this place to become a place of strength and attraction not only for students and teachers, but also for all residents of Novosibirsk — all those who value the history of the city with its scientific, technological, and educational glory," Irina Manuylova emphasized.
The grand opening of the monument was attended by graduates of the NETI — Oleg Klemeshov, Deputy Governor of the Novosibirsk Region, Anatoly Lokot, First Secretary of the Novosibirsk Regional Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Sergey Panasenko, Director of the Novosibirsk Aviation Plant named after V. P. Chkalova". Anatoly Bataev, Acting Rector of NSTU-NETI, noted that Georgy Pavlovich is a unique personality for him and the person who laid the foundation for the modern NSTU-NETI. Congratulations were also expressed by Pavel Logachev, the Director of the Institute of Nuclear Physics named after G.I. Budker, SB RAS.
Victoria Mamonova, daughter of G.P. Lyshinsky, told that it was decided to portray Georgy Pavlovich as young, handsome, and energetic. "As a theorist and practitioner of higher engineering education, he understood that to train a highly qualified engineer, it was not enough to have educational and industrial buildings — it was necessary to create an atmosphere where students could engage in social, cultural, and sports life. And it succeeded! The state awarded Georgy Pavlovich for his work — he has two orders of the Red Banner of Labor, the Order of Honor, and the Order of Lenin. But the most valuable award for him was the award of the title of Honorary Citizen of the city," said Victoria Georgievna. On behalf of her family, she expressed gratitude to all those who took part in the creation of the monument, and stressed that all these people have one thing in common: they are graduates of NETI. And there can be no greater reward, no greater recognition.
Colleagues and students knew Georgy Pavlovich not only as a talented leader and organizer, but also as an outstanding scientist. He was able to fascinate students with his lectures, to involve them in the discussion of a particular problem.
"It was the year of 1955... The Komsomol meeting was held among the second year students of the Radio Engineering Faculty, which was attended by Georgy Pavlovich for the first time. A Komsomol activist angrily criticizes the "zhoriks" — as the dudes were called then — for tight trousers, long bright ties and jackets.… And now it was Georgy Pavlovich's turn to speak. And here he was, in a fashionable long jacket and a bright tie, in boots on a high platform, slightly slouching, the GP approached the podium and said: "I hope that in our university from now the student's personality will be determined not by the width of trousers, but by the breadth of thoughts, views and aspirations, creativity and personal contribution to all the institute's affairs." And indeed, they somehow quickly forgot about the dudes, switched to other important things..." (from the memoirs of A. N. Yakovlev, graduated in 1959, professor, Deputy Chairman of the Council of Veterans of NSTU-NETI).
Under Lyshinsky's leadership, NETI began close cooperation with leading Russian and foreign scientists. Georgy Pavlovich was the scientific supervisor of all significant research projects at the Department of Electric Drive and Automation of Industrial Installations, of which he was the head. But the most important thing is that over the years of Lyshinsky's rectorship, the unique spirit of this university has been created, where students become not just engineers, but people who are able to set and solve the most complex scientific and industrial tasks.
