A student of the Digital Department of Novosibirsk State Technical University (NETI) has created an adaptive English proficiency testing platform that not only evaluates knowledge, but also offers personalized recommendations for improving it.
The initiative project was carried out by Dmitry Semenov, a 4th-year student of the Department of Management at the Faculty of Business of NSTU-NETI, as part of his studies at the Digital Department under the program "WEB-development of interactive models". The program allowed the student to significantly increase the level of their IT skills and put them into practice to create a useful and sought-after product.
"Studying at the Digital Department allowed me to improve my Python programming skills, deepen my knowledge of technologies such as NGINX, GIT, PostgreSQL, and also master working with Dash. In the future, I plan to refine the functionality of the platform and then release it as an OpenSource product, which will open up new opportunities for its use and improvement," Dmitry Semenov said during the annual open defense of projects of the Digital Department of NSTU-NETI.
The author's platform is a modern web-based tool for checking the level of English language proficiency for both students and teachers. It includes tests that help determine the current level of language proficiency. Based on the test results, the system offers individual recommendations to eliminate knowledge gaps and a step-by-step learning plan. The platform provides personal accounts for teachers and students, and the ability to track their academic performance. Customization of tests and tasks for individual needs is also provided for each user of the platform.
Thus, the implemented project is a digital platform for teachers of English language departments, which combines the functions of testing students, analyzing results and providing recommendations for improving the educational process. The project is aimed at improving the quality of teaching, popularizing the work of university teachers and integrating modern technologies into educational practice. It can be a useful tool for both students and teachers, helping to improve the learning process and make it more accessible and effective.
"The presented project demonstrates the high level of training of students of the Digital Department of NSTU-NETI and their ability to apply modern technologies to solve urgent problems. We are confident that the developed platform will find its place in the educational process and will become a useful tool for many. We wish Dmitry Semenov further professional and creative success," commented Victoria Vikhman, Head of the Digital Department at NSTU-NETI.
Help:The Digital Departments project is aimed at creating opportunities for advanced training in the field of information technology among students at universities participating in the Priority 2030 program. Its goal is to provide priority sectors of the economy with highly qualified personnel with modern digital competencies. The project is being implemented within the framework of the federal project "Development of human resources in the IT industry" of the national program "Digital Economy of the Russian Federation".
