Engineers at Novosibirsk State Technical University (NSTU) have developed a wheelchair for people with cerebral palsy, which is particularly durable and lightweight.
The Center for Student Project Activities of NSTU-NETI, commissioned by Soyuztech Rehabilitation Equipment Plant LLC, has developed a wheelchair for people with cerebral palsy. According to Vladimir Filippov, director of the CSPD, versatility is a feature of the vehicle for people with physical disabilities.
"The wheel chair is suitable for people with different heights and weights, this is ensured by the design feature. We have taken into account all the nuances of the design, so that people with different anthropometric indicators can use the wheelchair," said Vladimir Filippov. The best options presented by the customer were chosen as the basis for the universal wheel chair. The engineers paid special attention to the nodes, which ensure durability and comfort. The wheel chair weighs only about 15-16 kg, which makes it easy to operate.
The engineering development has already passed all the necessary tests at the laboratory and received positive feedback from an industrial partner. According to Ilya Gnatusha, General director of Soyuztech Rehabilitation Equipment Plant LLC, patients with different variations of cerebral palsy will be able to use such a wheelchair — it is enough only to adjust the vehicle to their height and weight.
The industrial partner plans to issue registration certificates and launch production at the City Hall business incubator in the Leninsky district of Novosibirsk.
Earlier, the Center for Student Design Activities developed a crane beam, which is characterized by a simple design and low cost, and an ultralight anatomical eyeglass frame
