The educational program "Captains" was opened at Novosibirsk State Technical University in early April.
The educational practice-oriented program "Industrial Management and technological entrepreneurship" is aimed at forming and reinforcing students’ business skills. The educational program with the support of the charity fund "Captains" was first launched at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics. Later, some leading Russian universities joined in.
Deputies of the State Duma and representatives of the Novosibirsk Oblast Ministry of Education took part in the plenary session at NSTU NETI. During the meeting, they told about the concept of the Fund's activity for the support of the educational initiative "Captains" and discussed prospects for developing business skills in higher and school education.
The event brought together not only heads and representatives of region educational institutions, but also students of NSTU NETI, applicants and representatives of the Novosibirsk business community.
Ksenia Goriacheva, the first Deputy Vice Chairman of the Committee on Science and Higher Education of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, commented on the opening of the educational program: "We'd like to form a certain mindset among future entrepreneurs. It should give rise to great ideas, and be based on creativity rather than consumerism. So that our educational projects be useful for people, the city and country. Besides, young people should have the opportunity to grow and earn money."
Sergey Chernov, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, noted "The peculiarity of the program that will be implemented in NSTU NETI is the emphasis on technology entrepreneurship, that is especially relevant today. The combination of engineering and technical competencies and business skills, the formation of a systematic approach and the development of creative thinking, the involvement of students in real projects, and the implementation of the "Startup as a diploma" initiative are the key points of the NSTU NETI development program. These are exactly the skills that will allow the graduate of the educational program to confidently look into the future after graduation."
Since 2012, we have been looking for students and school leavers who want to do business and promote new technological developments and business ideas in Russia. Many graduates have become successful entrepreneurs, social activists and politicians.
The plenary session in NSTU NETI ended with the formal signing of an agreement, that implies fixing the agreement between the foundation and educational institutions. The program "Captains" in Novosibirsk starts at NSTU NETI. It will include secondary special education for the first time. Such agreement was signed with Novosibirsk City Open College.
