Novosibirsk State Technical University (NETI) is ready to scale up its experience of organizing educational internships for students from new regions in Russia. NSTU-NETI was among the first regional universities in the country to implement such a practice: for a month, students of Donetsk National Technical University completed an internship at NSTU.
Individual classes to finalize the final qualification work with a curator from among the teachers of NSTU-NETI, a master class on working with domestic software in the only Astra laboratory in Novosibirsk, educational excursions to leading institutes of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and enterprises of the city - DonNTU students: 4th year bachelors and 2 year undergraduates - spent a busy academic month in the capital of Siberia. The faculties of Automation and Computer Engineering, Mechatronics and Automation, Radio Engineering and Electronics at NSTU-NETI are the basic ones for internship.
Between the training sessions, which were the main purpose of the trip, there were sports activities and, a joint visit with the university's volunteer staff to the leading cultural institutions of Novosibirsk. The students were actively involved in the regional event agenda: they took part in a meeting with the Minister of Digital Development and Communications of the Novosibirsk Region Sergey Tsukar as part of the regional IT Career Day Cookie fest, talked with the regional office of the Novosibirsk public organization of the Russian Youth Union, and shared their Siberian impressions with the Rossiya 1 TV channel.
The results of the Siberian internship for Donetsk students were summarized at a meeting with Deputy Governor of the Novosibirsk Region Yevgeny Prokhorenko on the eve of Russian Day. He noted that the Novosibirsk region is constantly expanding the formats and areas of support for children and youth in the DPR, including visits to health camps in the region. Novosibirsk Region was among the first regions in Russia to organize educational internships for students from new regions of Russia.
According to Yevgeny Prokhorenko, the educational integration of the regions should be followed by the strengthening of scientific cooperation: "I am sure that the internship in the capital of the Siberian Federal District will leave unforgettable impressions for the students. Now, we plan to scale the experience of NSTU-NETI in organizing such internships, involving new universities in the DPR, inviting students to practice at the research institutes of Novosibirsk Akademgorodok," said the deputy governor of the region.
Anatoly Bataev, Rector of NSTU-NETI, stressed that the organization of such internships is important for students as, it allows them to immerse themselves in a real educational and research environment after a long period of distance learning and, for the university. Therefore, the internship program will develop in the new academic year, and NSTU-NETI is ready to accept students of some specialties and directions for an internship for a whole semester.
"The internship allowed us to get to know the profession better — through practical exercises and personal communication with teachers. We study remotely at home, so there is a desire to return to Novosibirsk to complete our studies and get a master's degree at NSTU-NETI," Vyacheslav Burlaka, a student at DonNTU, shared his impressions.
In summary, the internship, the students of DonNTU noted that in a relatively short period of time, they gained a lot of experience: they carried out the necessary laboratory work, received recommendations on the content of their scientific research, got acquainted with how one of the largest universities in Siberia lives.
Note that the internship of students was organized within the framework of the agreement concluded in December last year between the Donetsk and Siberian universities.
