The official opening of the preparatory faculty of Novosibirsk State Technical University (NETI) took place on October 5 in Burkina Faso on the basis of the Russian House of the Center for People's Diplomacy, on October 15 the new educational platform of the university will begin work in Niger. During the year, future students, under the guidance of highly qualified teachers of NSTU-NETI, will prepare for admission to Russian universities and for integration into the educational environment.
NSTU-NETI opens a new stage in international cooperation together with the Center for People's Diplomacy.
"In general, working with students from African countries is not new for us," said Sergey Chernov, Vice—Rector for Academic Affairs. — The university has already enrolled students in both Russian-speaking and English-language programs. However, before that, applicants from African countries who wanted to receive training in the Russian language at the preparatory department could do so only in full-time format. Although this practice is useful, it was available to few due to the significant financial costs of moving and living in Russia. The launch of the preparatory faculty in an online format will open access to training programs for a much larger number of applicants."
After the opening of preparatory faculties in Niger and Burkina Faso, NSTU-NETI plans to extend this practice to other African countries. 160 people were selected at the first sites, who will study in-depth specialized mathematics, physics and the Russian language. Classes will be held online in French, the duration of the training will be one year.
The departments of Engineering Mathematics, General Physics and the Faculty of Humanities were actively involved in the creation of educational materials for the course, and the lessons themselves were recorded in the university's video studio.
Most of those enrolled in the preparatory faculty speak of their desire to receive a high-quality education in Russia in order to return home with world-class specialists.
Sergey Chernov noted that NSTU-NETI has a strategic task — to strengthen ties, demonstrate a high level of education and its compliance with modern technological requirements. In creating a unified system for exporting Russian education, universities receive significant support from the governments of Russia and African states.
In addition, the university plans to conduct targeted training of students for industrial partners. Thus, an agreement has already been signed with the Niger National Oil Company Sonidep on the training of students from Africa in the specialty "Automation of technological processes and production in the oil and gas complex" with a focus on the needs of the company.
