Novosibirsk State Technical University (NSTU) is developing mathematical models based on data analysis provided by the Department of Energy and Water Supply of Novosibirsk, Akademgorodok.
The company provided scientists with an array of data, including indicators of temperature, pressure and coolant flow for key facilities of the heating networks of FSUE UEV. The researchers analyzed the figures and identified the areas where difficulties arose during the operation of the networks. These patterns could not be detected by standard analysis.
Scientists noticed that several times during the year the indicators deviated from the standard ones to one degree or another. The proposed model has shown potential for diagnosing problem areas and predicting risks.
"We relied on applied science, and we started by analyzing archived data on the operation of the Akademgorodok heat supply system over the past year," said Dmitry Burdenko, director of FSUE UEV. — Having received a decision-making tool, we will be able to better understand the condition of our networks, take into account certain criteria in planning repairs, and prevent minor failures from turning into major accidents. The next step is to analyze the data for several years and develop rules for diagnosing heating network modes with access to pilot operation."
FSUE UEV began cooperation with the university in 2024. The company assisted in the renovation of the classrooms of NSTU-NETI, and issues of targeted personnel training for UES were worked out. We have also moved from plans to practice in the field of scientific and technological cooperation. Its key advantage is building models based on data from a specific network, which allows you to get accurate practical results, rather than typical solutions.
"Our task is to create not just a monitoring system, but an intelligent diagnostic system," says Alexander Dvortsevoy, Associate Professor of the Department of Thermal Power Plants at NSTU-NETI, Candidate of Technical Sciences. — The use of mathematical models allows you to cut off the "information noise" and focus on the most significant parameters that affect the operation of the network. We have tested the models on historical data and are now preparing algorithms for implementation in the work of the FSUE UEV maintenance service.
The management of FGUP UEV believes that a new approach to heat supply management will reduce operating costs, reduce losses and increase the reliability of the supply of resources to consumers.
