Victoria Zaitseva, a master's student at the Department of Optical Information Technologies at Novosibirsk State Technical University (NETI) has developed a method for forming multilayer binary Damman gratings, a technological approach for creating optical elements with diffraction and anti—reflection properties that will scale the production of optical elements.
Victoria Zaitseva is a graduate student at the ICU Department and is engaged in research at the Diffraction Optics Laboratory of the Institute of Automation and Electrometry SB RAS, where, under the guidance of Viktor Korolkov, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Head of the Diffraction Optics Laboratory at the Institute of Physics and Technology SB RAS, and Dmitry Belousov, a researcher at the Laboratory of Candidate of Technical Sciences, she is developing a method for forming multilayer phase holograms without etching a substrate for optical control and laser micro-processing. According to the student, the direction opens up new opportunities for creating relief structures with high diffraction efficiency while simplifying manufacturing technology.
"The development makes it possible to create highly efficient diffraction elements for laser communication, spectroscopy and metrology, reducing energy losses and simplifying production in industries such as parallel laser micro-processing, multipath interferometers, wave multiplexing in optical fibers and the formation of beam structures," said Victoria Zaitseva.
Electron beam sputtering of multilayer dielectric coatings, magnetron sputtering of chromium films, thermochemical scanning laser recording, and reactive ion etching were successively used to form the binary phase microrelief of holograms. "As a result of optimizing the structure and composition of the multilayer coating, we have identified the possibility of obtaining a uniform etching depth and reducing reflection from the diffraction structure," Victoria shared.
Marina Zavialova, PhD, Head of the ICU Department, noted that the method of forming multilayer binary Damman gratings, a type of binary phase diffraction gratings forming a given number of diffraction orders with uniform incident light intensity, is being developed as part of import substitution. "The result was an example of effective integration of education and academic science in Siberia," the scientist emphasized.
Recall that Victoria Zaitseva's work became one of the best in the WRC competition of the international organization "Laser Association".
Earlier, the ICU department proposed a method for classifying diamonds by color, which would be an alternative not only to manual sorting, but also to existing methods of automatic mineral selection and would allow for accurate consideration of their shades. To do this, they are developing an automatic diamond sorting system consisting of three systems: technical vision, feeding and distribution of diamonds by class.
