Scientists at Novosibirsk State Technical University (NETI) have developed a wireless charging reception system for a device that can be used to detect stolen cars, as well as to search for people.
"In the interests of the industrial partner of the company "SURRUS", we have developed a wireless charging device for the search module. The scientific group conducted an analysis of standardized wireless power transmission protocols and decided to use the "Qi" standard. The main criteria for choosing a wireless charging standard were input power, frequency, effective charging distance, and prevalence. Further work was aimed at developing a circuit design solution, choosing a component base, developing printed circuit boards, assembling and debugging the device, conducting experiments to analyze energy consumption in various operating modes," said Sergey Vnukov, assistant at the Department of Electrical Engineering at NSTU-NETI.
As the developer notes, at first the module was used to search for stolen cars. Due to its small size, it was easily integrated into the interior of the vehicle so that an outsider would not guess the location of the sensor. You can track the car within a few kilometers. This module can be used to search for its fighters — it is a sealed miniature device smaller than a soldier's badge, which can simply be put in a pocket. The search modules are resistant to electronic warfare and do not emit a signal in passive mode.
"The receiving module is powered by a lithium polymer battery. The duration of the module is several days, charging is carried out wirelessly. The maximum possible range of the search module signal is several kilometers. When the module is sealed, it is able to work underwater," Sergei Vnukov added.
There is already a working prototype of the device. In the near future, we plan to launch mass production.
