The work of the NSTU preparatory faculty of the Russian Academy of Sciences has officially started on the basis of the Kofi Annan University in Guinea. The grand opening took place with the support of the Center for Public Diplomacy. The initiative aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of education and expand Russia's presence on the African continent.
NSTU-NETI teachers have already started teaching African students. "The preparatory faculty's program includes an intensive Russian language course, as well as in-depth study of physics and mathematics. Special attention is paid to fundamental disciplines due to the need for Guinean students to form the base necessary for the successful development of technical and natural science disciplines in Russian universities," said Sergey Chernov, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at NSTU-NETI.
A separate task of the faculty will be to prepare students for participation in the international Olympiad Future of Siberia, organized by NSTU-NETI. The winners and prize-winners of the Olympiad will be able to apply for a quota from the Government of the Russian Federation, which entitles them to free undergraduate studies at one of the country's leading technical universities.
"The implementation of this project is an important step in the development of educational cooperation between Russia and Guinea. We don't just teach the language, but we train future engineers and specialists who will study according to advanced Russian programs," Sergey Chernov emphasized.
For Guinean students, opening a faculty means not only the opportunity to learn Russian under the guidance of native speakers, but also a real chance to continue their studies in Russia, obtaining a sought-after world-class specialty.
The preparatory faculty in Guinea is the fourth for NSTU-NETI. Similar sites began operating in Burkina Faso and Niger in 2025, and in Ghana in 2026. The project is being implemented within the framework of Priority 2030.
