Novosibirsk State Technical University (NETI) has already signed the second agreement on the launch of the 2+2 double degree bachelor's degree program with Shenyang Institute of Technology (SHTI, Shenyang, China), which will train highly qualified personnel for the machine-building industry.
The first agreement was signed a year ago for students from China. There are quite a lot of such programs in Siberia: many Chinese students go to Siberian universities to study in Russian or English. Now there is a double degree program at NSTU-NETI for Russian students who want to get a bachelor's degree.
The program is implemented at the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology of the Faculty of Mechanics and Technology in NSTU-NETI for students studying in the field of "Design and technological support of machine-building industries".
"This is the first and so far the only program of this format in Novosibirsk for Russian students. The first enrollment will take place this academic year. Students will study at the NSTU-NETI for two years, including learning Chinese at the Confucius Institute at the university, and they will continue their studies in Chinese at the SHTI in 3-4 courses. Upon completion of the program, graduates will receive two diplomas — NSTU-NETI and SHTI. The key feature of this program is a modern approach to mechanical engineering, which is based on the introduction of information technology, artificial intelligence and automation of production processes. Students will have a unique opportunity to work on high-tech, state-of-the-art equipment available in China, in close cooperation with world-class industrial partners. This experience gained during the training will open up vast horizons for graduates of the program to build a successful career in leading companies in the country and the world," said Evgeny Golovin, head of the program, Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology at NSTU- NETI.
During the online signing of the agreement on May 7, Anatoly Bataev, Rector of NSTU-NETI, noted that international cooperation is a key vector of the university's development and the program with NSTU-NETI opens up new opportunities for students and strengthens scientific and educational ties between Russia and China. The Rector of SHTI, Li Kangju, for his part, stressed that in the era of global integration of education, universities are taking on a historic mission to train international-level specialists with intercultural communication skills.
The signing of the agreement was preceded by a discussion of the details of the program during the visit of the NSTU-NETI delegation to SHTI in March-April 2025. The delegation included teachers and students of the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology, Ivan Reva, Dean of the Faculty of Automation and Computer Engineering, and, Elena Melekhina, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities. During the visit, the participants held meetings with Chinese students of the 2+2 program, got acquainted with the material and technical base of ShTI, and also discussed the prospects for joint projects.
