Novosibirsk State Technical University developed a remote-action manipulator for use in educational activities. The device can be controlled using a mobile application. The project was implemented within the framework of student project activities.
The work was performed at the Department of General Physics by a team of three people: Dmitry Blinov (3rd year of FMA), Igor Obukhov (3rd year of FMA) and Evgeny Pobedinsky (2nd year of REF).
"The idea arose to create a robotic manipulator that could be used as an auxiliary tool during laboratory work. We have developed a prototype device that can be used to work with solid powder materials and liquid substances in test tubes. The manipulator can be controlled using a mobile application," said Dmitry Blinov, one of the developers, a student at the Faculty of Mechatronics and Automation.
According to the students, four degrees of freedom are used in the manipulator, which provides sufficient mobility to perform basic operations for moving and capturing objects, as well as smooth movements. The manipulator allows you to solve the problem of remote control of experimental equipment inside a laboratory or work area, conduct research and experiments in real time, while being at a distance — for example, in another locality.
"The prototype manipulator with remote control can be used in educational activities not only for laboratory work in chemistry and physics. Students can also get acquainted with the principles of operation of devices of this type, which can be controlled remotely, and practice their skills in working with a manipulator. It will be interesting primarily for those who are interested in robotics," Dmitry Blinov added.
