On October 26-27, the Shenyang Institute of Technology (SHTI), China, hosted the International Symposium of Universities of the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China "New Horizons and Vision in a New Era: Sino-Russian cooperation in Higher Education". 23 Chinese and 11 Russian higher education institutions took part in the symposium. NSTU-NETI was presented by Sergey Chernov, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, and Anastasia Ukolova, marketing specialist at the Center for International Education.
Within the framework of the symposium, the participants discussed the best practices of cooperation in the field of science and education, as well as topical issues of implementing joint educational programs, academic mobility programs between universities of China and Russia. Representatives of NSTU-NETI spoke about the best practices of international cooperation and shared their experience of conducting language and thematic summer schools as an effective and popular form of interaction between Russian universities and universities of the People's Republic of China.
During the visit to ShTI, the delegation of NSTU-NETI held talks with the leadership of the Shenyang Institute of Technology on future educational and scientific projects, and also visited the laboratories of Huawei institutes, RockwellAutomation, the Inspur Industrial Internet Innovation Center, and the Center for Advanced Manufacturing Technologies.
"The launch of a joint educational program in mechanical engineering and the holding of a Summer school in the Russian language in 2024 showed that our universities are reliable and responsible partners, and also that both sides are aimed at strengthening cooperation to create new educational opportunities for students of ShTI and NSTU-NETI,— said Sergey Chernov. "In 2025, we see prospects for developing relations with the ShTI in such areas as the implementation of new joint educational programs in the field of mechanical engineering, IT, energy, aircraft engineering, academic mobility programs for Chinese and Russian students, guest professor programs, as well as strengthening the training of Chinese students in Russian for further study in Russia.".
On the final day of the symposium, the delegation of NSTU-NETI held a presentation of the university and an educational event to introduce graduates of the Bachelor's degree of ShTI to Novosibirsk, the Russian language and culture. More than 270 students are considering the possibility of continuing their studies in master's degree programs at Novosibirsk State Technical University, which demonstrates the high demand for Russian higher education among Chinese students.
