Novosibirsk State Technical University became the only university in the region that was included in the list of winners of the competition for grants to launch advanced IT education, organized by the Ministry of Finance in cooperation with the Analytical Center under the Government of the Russian Federation.
The Ministry of Finance, together with the Analytical Center under the Government of the Russian Federation, summed up the results of the competitive selection of universities for grants for the training of advanced IT specialists.
Of the 50 universities that applied for participation, 26 became winners. In the Novosibirsk region, the only winner out of four participating universities was NSTU-NETI. The University will receive 60.8 million rubles for three years, during which, together with partner enterprises, 100 IT specialists will be trained in the field of Computer Science and Engineering.
The main condition for universities was cooperation with companies to train students and attract co-financing in the amount of at least 30% of the grant amount. The training will begin in 2025 and will include internships, internships, and work on IT cases. Students will be able to gain experience working with relevant business tasks and start building their career from the very first steps of their studies. By the end of 2030, it is planned to train at least 3,500 advanced IT developers in Russia as part of the national project "Data Economics".
According to Alexander Yakimenko, Head of the Department of Computer Engineering at the Faculty of Automation and Computer Engineering of NSTU-NETI, the training of advanced IT specialists will begin with the development of a special educational program. "The educational program will be developed in cooperation with industrial partners of NSTU-NETI — we are talking about practice in companies such as Astra Group, RiM JSC, ELTEX Enterprise LLC. A number of academic disciplines will also be updated as part of the project. All teachers involved in the training of advanced IT specialists will annually upgrade their skills," he said.
Currently, almost 7 thousand people are studying in IT and related fields at NSTU-NETI. IT training is provided by 9 of the 11 faculties of NSTU-NETI, the core of which are the Faculty of Automation and Computer Engineering, as well as the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science.
The University is among the leaders of the Russian ranking of universities in the digital economy.
Digital areas of study have been among the most popular among university applicants for several years, they are leaders in the number of budget places and passing scores. The direction of "Computer Science and Computer Engineering" has become the most in demand among applicants for targeted admission in 2024 at NSTU-NETI.
