The students of Novosibirsk State Technical University (NETI) danced a waltz in front of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre (NOVAT). The dance flash mob "May's Waltz" dedicated to the celebration of Victory Day and prepared by NOVAT together with NSTU was performed on May 10.
"The May's Waltz flash mob is dedicated to the Soviet soldiers and home front workers' feat and victory over fascism. There is a tradition to waltz on Victory Day. This dance helped to raise morale, reminded the soldiers of what they were fighting for. During the war, there were not only marches and front songs. In impromptu concerts, people sang pre-war songs and waltzed. It brought back heart-warming memories of peaceful life, helped to believe in victory," said Lyudmila Mozheikina, vice-rector for Educational Work at NSTU.
According to her, the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre contributed a lot to the preservation of the country's cultural heritage during the Great Patriotic War. The theater opened on May 12, 1945 is as old as the Victory and its symbol for the entire Siberia. That is why the May Waltz flash mob took place in front of the theater.
30 dance couples of NSTU students took part in the flash mob. Novosibirsk residents passing by were happy to join the dance.
