Students of the Faculty of Business, NSTU NETI, created a virtual mannequin for marketplaces and became the winners of the Startup Unit School.
To create a virtual dummy, students had to test several hypotheses, conduct surveys and interviews, consult with experts. According to the creators, it was the interviews that helped to find the real problem of customers and sellers.
"For customers, the problem sounds like this: things purchased online often do not fit in size or do not fit as it looked in the photo, and the Size Guide cannot help, even with accurate body measurements, especially for people with a non-traditional body type (most people are like that). For sellers, the problem is the endless returns, customers' doubts and negative emotions associated with the above-mentioned difficulties," the authors of the development tell us.
According to the developers, the virtual mannequin works by entering the customers's parameters, after which the algorithms adjust to the data and show how the clothes will look on a particular person.
"People take certain measurements of their body, upload them to a website and receive a 3D copy of themselves, a personal virtual mannequin. The clothes you like are already being tried on for this model, which is also drawn in 3D in advance, and the customer sees what fits well and what absolutely does not fit," the developers add.
Now the team is working on improving the technological process and is negotiating with real marketplaces that will agree to introduce the technology into their process of interacting with customers.
