Students of 8-9 grades enjoyed the profile session in the NSTU NETI Energyclass on April 13 – 20.
The profile session is an intensive educational format, when the students are completely immersed in the topic by attending lectures, performing practical and lab assignment for several days and working on their own project throughout the session. Importantly, the students immediately implement the gained knowledge. Information is given gradually and is always illustrated by many examples and lab experience to make understanding easier.
This time, the profile session of the Energyclass focused on the basics of power supply for residential and public premises. The students learned to calculate the power consumed by electric transmitters and select conductors to power the equipment. The Energyclass students explored the concept of overload and electrical short failure and learned to choose protective and switching devices for the equipment. They applied the gained knowledge in the Virtual Wireman simulator and chose Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as an object of power supply. The students compiled the list of electric transmitters and rated power on their own. The result of the project was a single-line power supply scheme, with all the selected equipment applied.
At the end of the session, the participants received gifts and souvenirs.
