The network inter-university Business Incubator will be opened at NSTU. NSTU invested into the project about 3.5 million rubles of its own funds as well as the money received from the Ministry of Science and Education of Russia as a part of the flagship regional University program. The incubator is to be opened on March 5. Only the resident teams can participate and work for free in the Business Incubator.
"Student’s Business Incubator is the place where students can try themselves as a startup team’s participates. They can come to us with their idea, work it out with skilled business practitioners and coaches and start their own business", – says Еugenia Gorevaya, the head of NSTU student business incubator Garage and the originator of the student’s inter-university business incubator platform.
The business incubator is located on Blucher Str.32 where the University canteen used to be situated. The room was renovated and the necessary equipment was bought. The advantage of the platform is the opportunity to transform it for various purposes and formats: for large events, workshops, trainings and talks. Coworking zone is the biggest room accommodating up to 150 people.
«Though Akadempark in Novosibirsk Akademgorodok does have a Business Incubator with equipped working places and hi-tech machinery, there was a lack of an area where youth could meet and create new engineering solutions and innovational produces» – commented Marina Hairoulina, the dean of Business Department.
Students can make prototypes of their products and work at new engineering solutions in the FabLab workshop (workshop providing the possibility of individual products and parts manufacturing). At an early stage the workshop will be equipped by working and electric tools, including soldering stations, a 3D printer and other equipment for the manufacture the experimental samples of high-tech products. In the future, it is planned to purchase a milling machine with numerical control.
Primarily, the Business Incubator will work from 8 till 22 hours. It is planned to launch the 24-hours mode of operation after the installation of the security equipment.
“24-hour accessibility will give more opportunities for start-up teams, especially from the IT-sphere, where activity and productivity are usually higher in the evening and at night,” says Eugene Gorevaya.
The platform will host events dedicated to the innovative developments of Novosibirsk universities, as well as meetings of students and specialists.
