The youth space for the implementation of student initiatives and, social and creative projects of students of Novosibirsk State Technical University - NETI, called "House 35", was opened on December 21.
"House 35" is an updated space on the university campus with a total area of more than 500 m2. The concept was developed jointly with the students, in accordance with their requests and vision of a comfortable place for interaction and creativity. When decorating the premises during the renovation work, the project team was inspired by the traditions of the Russian avant-garde. The youth cross-cultural space of NSTU NETI houses the headquarters of all student associations, several coworking and meeting rooms, a conference hall and a Student Council hall, as well as a factory kitchen.
The name "House 35" was invented by students. 186 variants were sent to the competition for the best name for the new space. According to the decision of the rector' s office, House 35 was recognized as the winner, including being the closest to the concept of the site — to become a comfortable home for the student asset. 15 student associations and 16 student groups operating at NSTU NETI will receive a "residence permit" in the new house.
Irina Manuilova, Deputy Governor of the Novosibirsk Region, congratulated the residents of House 35 on their housewarming: "The opening of the student creative park is an important milestone in the history of the university and the region. In this space, you will be able to realize the most daring ideas, develop, communicate, and learn from each other, as well as find support and like-minded people to realize your plans. Such projects, where additional forms of leisure and educational initiatives can be introduced, contribute to the comprehensive development of students' personality and ensure their participation in making important decisions. For the successful formation of an active civic position among young people, it is important that the state and young people work in partnership and interaction," the Vice-governor stressed.
The updated space for the university' s student assets is a logical continuation of the campus policy of NSTU NETI, said the rector of the university, Anatoly Bataev.
"One of the mechanisms for its implementation is the consistent modernization of morally and physically outdated campus infrastructure and space facilities, giving them new functionality in accordance with strategic objectives. New House 35 will become a space for self—realization, comfortable work and youth development, and the involvement of students in the ecosystem of the university 's youth policy," the rector stressed.
It should be noted that this year a new dormitory, a square of graduates have been opened at NSTU NETI, and the infrastructure of the university's student project activity center on Bogdan Khmelnitsky Street is being updated.
