At the end of 2023, the delegation of Novosibirsk State Technical University (NETI) visited several universities in Uzbekistan. The main event of the visit was the signing of an agreement between NSTU-NETI and Tashkent University of Information Technology on the establishment of a joint faculty in the Urgench branch of TUIT. The faculty will open at the beginning of the new academic year 2024/25.
The joint faculty’s work involves the implementation of several educational programs within the framework of bachelor's and master's degrees, including communication technology and artificial intelligence systems and some other areas.
For students of Uzbekistan, the educational program is divided into modules, including those using remote technologies. The cooperation of universities provides for the exchange of teaching staff, internships, and summer and winter schools for students and applicants — future students of the joint faculty.
"We hope that cooperation between Novosibirsk and Uzbek universities will attract hundreds of applicants, as well as develop into joint projects in the scientific and technical field aimed at developing the manufacturing industry of our countries and promoting high-tech industries," commented Sergey Chernov, Vice—rector for Academic Affairs of NSTU NETI, who headed the delegation to Uzbekistan.
Within the framework of the joint educational faculty, an intercultural exchange is planned to teach Russian not only to students of the faculty, but also to students of other educational organizations in the Khorezm region of Uzbekistan.
"The opening of the joint faculty of the Novosibirsk State Technical University of NETI on the basis of the Urgench branch of the Tashkent University of Information Technologies (UFTUIT) is a significant step in the development of international educational and scientific cooperation. This partnership opens up new horizons for students and teachers, promising the transfer of valuable experience and advanced techniques in the field of engineering and scientific personnel training borrowed from Siberian colleagues," Omonboy Utamuratovich Halmuratov, Deputy Director of UFTUIT for Educational Affairs, commented on the signing of the agreement.
O. U. Khalmuratov noted: "NSTU-NETI is known for its author's approaches to learning, a strong research base, and a successful history of training highly qualified specialists capable of solving complex technical and technological tasks. The integration of this experience into the joint faculty’s educational process promises a significant improvement in the quality of education and the development of a research environment conducive to the development of science and scientific research. This cooperation will facilitate the exchange of knowledge and cultural values between Russia and Uzbekistan, strengthening international ties and supporting cross-cultural understanding. The opening of the joint faculty reflects the desire of both countries to deepen their partnership and expand opportunities for young people, it is a contribution to the future of both nations through education and science.
In addition, the integration of the efforts and resources of NSTU-NETI and UFTUIT is an exemplary example of productive international cooperation in the field of education and science, which will contribute to the prosperity of both countries, the development of talented youth, and the formation of a new generation of leaders and innovators."
