The Moscow International Rating "Three Missions of the University" is a rating, the founder of which is the Russian Union of Rectors, the operator is the Association of Rating Compilers (ASR). The members of the association are leading rating and research centers (Expert RA, VCIOM, Reputation, etc.).
The project is supported by ClarivateAnalytics, which provides data and metrics InCites and GlobalIntitutionalProfilesProject (GIPP). The Moscow International University Rating is a fundamentally new academic rating that for the first time evaluates all three key missions of the university: education, science and interaction with society.
NSTU NETI entered the rating for the first time in 2019, taking a position among 74 Russian universities in the interval — 48-58.
By 2023, the rating already includes 154 Russian universities, NSTU NETI took the 58th position, significantly improving last year's figures (69th position among 146 Russian universities).
Reference: The first draft of the methodology of the Moscow International University Rating was formed following a large—scale public discussion, which was attended by over 100 organizations - universities, rectors' councils, expert associations and rating agencies. The list of rating criteria was submitted for consideration to the International Expert Council of the Rating, which includes 25 authoritative experts in the field of higher education, representing the USA, Great Britain, Brazil, China, India, South Africa, Iran, Italy, Belgium, Turkey, Poland and Russia. The rating has been conducted since 2017.
As a result of the feedback, some rating indicators were adjusted, and the list of universities participating in the rating was expanded to 500 universities. In 2019, the shortlist included more than 1,700, in 2020 more than 1,800, in 2021 more than 2,000, in 2022 more than 2,200, and in 2023 — more than 2,300 universities representing 165 countries and territories.
The rating considers three components of the university's activities:
• quality of education,
• scientific research
• the relationship between the university and local communities, an indicator called "university and society".
To compile the rating in 2023, only objective criteria approved by international experts were used; reputation surveys are completely excluded. The sources of information were open data from the official websites of universities and national authorities, as well as data from independent international sources.
