At the Novosibirsk State Technical University of NETI proposed new technical solutions for the energy supply of territories of advanced development. It is proposed to create local intelligent power systems (LPP) based on mini-CHP plants, where the main source of thermal and electric energy are gas piston installations.
The project "Improving the efficiency of energy supply systems in the territory of advanced development" was implemented with the support of the Russian Science Foundation and the Government of the Novosibirsk Region.
"For residents of the territories of advanced development (TOP), a special legal regime for doing business and preferential conditions for connecting to engineering infrastructure are provided. It is assumed that high-tech industries requiring reliable and economical heat and power supply will become residents of the TOP. Today, when developing the energy supply system of territories, priority is given to traditional solutions for connecting to centralized heat and power supply systems, which results in an increase in the cost of heat and electricity. This constrains, and in some cases makes it impossible to achieve the expected pace of development. Hence the task was born: to study an alternative option for the formation of an energy supply system for territories that would make them attractive for investment. The availability of inexpensive energy resources will create more favorable conditions for the development of small and medium-sized businesses. But if the issue of access to inexpensive energy resources is not resolved, then the prospects will remain prospects. Based on the results of a two-year study, we have proposed new technical solutions for the energy supply of the TOP. As the main source of electric and thermal energy, the placement of gas piston installations has been proposed, which are the basis for the creation of a local intelligent power system (LPP)," said Felix Bull, Associate Professor of the Department of Automated Electric Power Systems at NSTU-NETI, Candidate of Technical Sciences.
The LIPP is a power system balanced in terms of electric and thermal generation, where the main energy source is located in close proximity to consumers, which increases the availability and reliability of energy supply. The scientific novelty of the project lies in the development of technical and economic models and methods that allow to determine the structure and composition of generating equipment, to assess the technical and economic effects of the creation and integration of the LIPP.
According to the scientist, the creation of hybrid power plants at the TOP, including generation on hydrocarbon fuels and renewable energy sources, will largely solve the problems of increasing energy efficiency, environmental friendliness, accessibility and uninterrupted power supply. To verify the developed models and methods, the Naukopolis advanced development zone was selected with the SmartCity-Novosibirsk innovation and scientific and educational activity area, which is part of it, and the construction of which will be completed by 2035. It was proposed to include the creation of a communal NPP in the master plan of this territory as an alternative to existing morally and physically outdated technical solutions for the energy supply of such territories.
This project is aimed at improving the energy efficiency of electricity production. The developed models and methods can be used to scale the experience of creating local intelligent power systems balanced in power and energy as part of regional power supply systems, based on low-power gas piston and gas turbine installations. The creation and inclusion of the LIPP into the regional power supply systems will reduce the cost of electricity for commercial enterprises of small and medium-sized enterprises and ensure an increase in the investment attractiveness of the territories of advanced development.
