NSTU NETI again launches the Pogruzheniye project, aimed at developing communication between the hearing and the deaf and hard of hearing. The project team received a grant for its continuation as a part of the All-Russian Youth Project Competition "Tvoi Khod" (Your Move) in December 2022.
"When we started the project for the first time, we did not expect so many responses; our seminars and workshops always attracted lots of participants. The project ended, but the guys who didn't have time to be at our events still wrote to me. That's why we decided to develop the idea. We have done a lot of work with my team, analyzed the mistakes, and taken into account the recommendations of mentors and previous experience. We have updated the program of workshops and trainings and are ready to immerse everyone in the atmosphere of the Russian sign language again," explained Alexander Shets, the project manager and an Institute of Social Technologies student.
The updated Pogruzheniye project will take place from March 2023 to February 2024
Within the project, the participants will receive inclusive trainings where hearing and deaf children will learn non-verbal interaction. In total, there will be six trainings for at least 90 students. Native speakers of the Russian sign language will host the workshops about basic communication skills in this language. The project will be finalized in a Second Inclusive Competition for the Knowledge of the Russian Sign Language, which will be held in September 2024.
The project is implemented with the support of the Rosmolodezh Agency.
