Alexander Shets, a student at IST NSTU NETI, took part in the Interdisciplinary scientific event "Science of the Future — the science of the young".
The expert jury highly appreciated his research work. Alexander took the first place among students in the Social Sciences section. First, his work passed the first correspondence stage of the competitive selection, and then all the finalists gathered in Orel for a public presentation of the results of their research.
Alexander' s research paper presents the results of an empirical study conducted using a questionnaire survey of deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing students enrolled in educational programs of higher and secondary vocational education in Russian organizations.
"As a result, it was confirmed that representatives of students from among the deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing people face problems and limitations in communication. Simultaneously, there is a connection between the experience of studying in a mass or specialized school and the presence of communication problems. The study identified a high degree of formation of the need for intensification of interaction by studying the Russian sign language and the culture of the deaf, as well as organizing joint activities in the process of their inclusive education and interaction in the social space," Alexander commented on the results of his research.
More than 1,600 respondents from 27 regions of Russia participated in the survey. In particular, almost 65% of hearing survey participants noted that they do not see the difference "who studies with whom", the same opinion is shared by 45% of respondents from among the deaf and hard of hearing.
The results obtained can be useful for the practical activities of specialists of educational organizations of higher and secondary vocational education, and public organizations of disabled people to optimize and improve the effectiveness of programs, measures, and measures for the development of inclusive education.
