The artwork of graduates of the Department of Decorative and Applied Arts, Institute of Social Technologies won a prize at the international SKOLKOVO Plaza Artshow exhibition and competition.
The interior composition "Live and Learn" was second in the competition held from June 7 to 20, 2021 at the SKOLKOVO Innovation Center, the largest Moscow cluster that united not only research institutions, but also a whole complex of business districts.
The authors of the artwork are graduates of the Institute of Social Technologies, NSTU NETI, which is one of the main inclusive education centers in Siberia. Polina Malygina, Vadim Staver, Konstantin Bobylev, Vladislav Belozerov and Maxim Oleshko are students with hearing impairments who received the degree in Arts and Teaching in ceramics and wood carving. The contesting interior composition of decorative panels and sculptures on the topic "Live and learn" was created for the ground floor staircase area of the Institute of Social Technologies building . The synthetic approach – the principle of combining materials and techniques – is widely used in the work. The basis topic of the work is science and education. These elements are ominous in the art pieces: these are sculptures "A Creator", "Teacher and student", "Scientist, manager and worker"; reliefs "Pushkin" and "Einstein"; compositions "Hands of Science" and "Newton's Apple". Other types of decoration are molecular motifs, quotes, drawings, formulas and motivating slogans: "Live and learn", "Knowledge is power", "I am learning". The use of such inserts is necessary to create the message of the work and clearer indicate the topic. An important feature of the products is their interactivity: opening drawers, sliding decorative elements of the abacus, the keyboard and the ability to rearrange the decor. All this enhances the impression of the art pieces and invites the viewer to an active interaction. Earlier, the artwork "Live and Learn" was the winner of the XXVII International Exhibition and Competition of Contemporary Art "Russian Art Week" in the category "Decorative Panel", held in Moscow at the Sokolniki Exhibition Complex from November 1 to 6, 2019.
The project supervisors are Olesya Berezovikova and Anton Popkov.
