NSTU NETI specialists have developed a new projectile for D-30 howitzer and 2S1 self-propelled howitzer "Gvozdika". It is a high-explosive projectile of enhanced accuracy and power. Its flight range is 15 km and its mass is 21.76 kg.
"For three years we have been developing a projectile of enhanced accuracy and power. The tests were carried out on the territory of the Research Institute of Measurement Instrumentation "Novosibirsk Komintern Plant", said Anatoly Guskov, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor and head of Gas Dynamic Pulse Devices Department, NSTU NETI.
The new design helped to improve the balance of the projectile and, as a result, the accuracy increased by 30%. The leading belt was modified, and now it is not a separate part but is made as a whole with the projectile body. The enhanced accuracy high-explosive shrapnel projectile is aimed to suppress and destroy the tactical means of the enemy, such as artillery and mortars, arms and military equipment in transit, in places of concentration and strongholds, and to destroy temporary defensive and observation structures.
