The leading chess players in the country have entered the Novosibirsk State Technical University of NETI at various levels of education.
They are the silver medalist of the championship of Russia – 2023 up 19 years, the master of FIDE Daniil Plyasunov, and the master of FIDE Alexey Grachev from Novokuznetsk, who has two points of the international master. Both entered the first year of bachelor’s degree programs (the first higher education). Both athletes were prize–winners of the "League of applicants of NSTU NETI- 2023" (team chess tournament for applicants) and received 6 additional points for admission to NSTU NETI.
According to the master's degree programs (the second stage of higher education), international masters Roman Kezin and Miroslav Vlasenko (G. St. Petersburg) and the silver medalist of the Superfinal of the Russian Championship in 2021, grandmaster Evgenia Ovod (Moscow St. Petersburg).
NSTU NETI has a system of rewarding talented chess players for their sporting achievements: increased scholarships, discounts for students studying on a paid basis. As Vladimir Ponomarev, director of the NSTU NETI Alumni Association, notes, the selection of highly qualified athletes can allow the NSTU NETI team to compete for prizes in the Top League of the Russian Team Championship – 2024. The association plans to continue to publish and prepare a collection of "Selected Games of Grandmaster Evgenia Ovod" in the next academic year.
Alexey Dolgov, the head of the chess school of NSTU NETI, has developed individual tournament calendars for first-year students, which include All-Russian and international competitions. They will continue their chess improvement under the guidance of international grandmasters Dmitry Bocharov and Andrey Belozerov.
The nearest plans for NSTU NETI chess players are to perform at the team and individual championships of Russia, which will be held in Sochi from October 13 to 20.
