The delegation of NSTU-NETI participated in the 32nd international education exhibition Indonesia International Education Training Expo and Conference (IIETE 2024) in February 2024 in Jakarta, the capital of the Republic of Indonesia.
IIETE 2024 has been held since 1992 and is the largest higher education exhibition in Indonesia. The purpose of the exhibition is to inform high school students of secondary schools and secondary vocational schools, as well as students and graduates of higher educational institutions about the possibilities of obtaining an education abroad and to popularize Russian higher education. More than 120 educational institutions, including six universities of the Russian Federation, were represented at the exhibition. NSTU-NETI was represented by Sergey Chernov, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Daria Borovikova, Head of the Department of Pre-University Education and Recruitment, and, Anastasia Ukolova, Marketing Specialist at the Center for International Education.
The delegation of NSTU-NETI noted the great interest of applicants in studying in Russian universities in technical specialties, particularly, in the areas of IT, power engineering, mechatronics, and materials science.
"For NSTU-NETI, as a participant in the Priority 2030 program, it is critical to expand international cooperation programs and realize the export of Russian higher education at a high level," Daria Borovikova noted. — At the end of last year, we had already discovered the educational market of Vietnam and concluded several cooperation agreements. Now, the delegation of NSTU-NETI has visited Indonesia for the first time and has become acquainted with the educational system of this country."
More than 4 thousand applicants and their parents visited the exhibition stands every day, including NSTU-NETI. In addition to our university, the exhibition was attended by MEPhI, Kazan Federal University, Mari State University, HSE (St. Petersburg).
Because of the exhibition, more than 160 graduates of schools and universities in Indonesia submitted applications for further study at NSTU-NETI.
In addition to the exhibition, representatives of the universities visited five universities in three cities of Indonesia — Jakarta, Tangerang, and Bogor:
• Indonesian Institute of Technology Indonesia (ITI), Tangerang;
• University of Indonesia (Technical University of Indonesia (UI), Faculty of Technology, Jakarta;
• Bogor Institute of Agriculture (IPB University), City of Bogor;
• Swiss German University (SGU), Tangerang;
• International University Liaison Indonesia, Tangerang.
Each university decided to sign memorandums of cooperation and, actively discussed issues of close cooperation in the field of academic mobility of students and teachers, the opening of joint educational programs, and the launch of projects to promote the Russian language and culture.
"Indonesia is a country with a large proportion of the young population, which today needs to build up highly qualified human resources, especially in the field of engineering and technology. At the same time, the higher education system in the country remains exclusively commercial, despite the growing demand every year, — Sergey Chernov, Vice-rector for Academic Affairs at NSTU-NETI, shared his impressions. — Today, including within the framework of Indonesia Educational Expo 2024, we see that students and graduates of Indonesian schools have a high need for affordable and high-quality higher education, and also, what is especially pleasant to note, there is an interest in learning Russian and studying in our country. This opens up new opportunities for Russian universities not only to export higher education, but also promote the Russian language and culture in Asian countries. Within the framework of the "Priority 2030" program, NSTU-NETI simultaneously implements several projects to internationalize higher education and strengthen ties with universities in other countries. Although this is the university's first visit to Indonesia, we have already received a great response from Indonesian students and offers for cooperation from several universities at once."
The delegation of NSTU-NETI also attended the personal reception of the Russian Ambassador to the Republic of Indonesia, Lyudmila Georgievna Vorobyova. The Ambassador noted the great importance of the active presence of Russian universities in Indonesia and the shortage of personnel and educational technologies in the republic, which can be filled, among other things, by the Russian higher education system. The Russian Ambassador also stressed that such ties contribute to the promotion of Russian culture and the Russian language in Indonesia.
