Dmitry Yurovsky, the new artistic director of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theater (NOVAT), and Anatoly Bataev, Rector of the Novosibirsk State Technical University NETI, signed a partnership agreement.
"Our main task is the professional training of specialists, but we believe the education and comprehensive development of our students is no less important. The educational process affects very different spheres of human activity; with aesthetic and cultural education being among the most important ones. In my opinion, lecture-type education is very inefficient and just boring. Our university is the largest in Novosibirsk. We have about 16,000 people with the teachers and staff and I'm glad to note that a large part of our employees and students are involved in this cultural education process and are engaged in it at the level of real, interesting projects. Therefore, our university needs to be friends with Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theater which is one of the best theaters in the world, and I am sure, the further development of our cooperation will raise our educational processes to a new level," said Anatoly Bataev, Rector of NSTU NETI.
According to the NOVAT's artistic director Dmitry Yurovsky, the importance of the agreement lies in the dissemination of culture and art beyond the theater.
"When it comes to Novosibirsk, first of all, we mention academic education, a technical university, and the tradition of classical music, that is our theater. It seems to me that for a city like Novosibirsk it is very important that art, culture, as the cause we are engaged in, spread as widely as possible beyond the walls of our theater. We hope our projects will be continued on your platforms. In our part, we look forward to seeing NSTU students at our performances and concerts, and your creative projects in our theater," said Yurovsky.
