The all-Russian student Olympiad "Ecology and Life Safety - 2019" was held at Irkutsk National Research Technical University on November, 12-14.
The teams of various universities of Siberian Federal District took part in the Olympiad. The team of Workplace Safety Department, NSTU NETI won the first place in the team championship, the first place in the questions competition, the third place in the projects competition "Promoting the environmental culture for solving the waste disposal problem" and the first place in the practical round of the Olympiad. The team consisted of Sofia Akhrimenko, Yulia Kokorina, Sultan Uvaliev, Anna Fresher, Olga Petukhova. Sofia Akhrimenko took 2nd place in the individual competition. The team was prepared by Evgeniy Udaltsov, Associate Professor of Workplace Safety Department.
The Olympiad included both theoretical and practical competitive tasks. The theory was tested in the topics "Safety in Emergency Situations", "First Aid to the Victim and Behavior in Emergency Situations", "Workplace Safety", "History of Ecology and Human Ecology", "Global Environmental Problems".
In practice, students had to show their skills in providing first aid to the victims. During this stage, the students were asked to the help a person with a closed fracture, a person with asphyxia (a foreign body stuck in the throat), and a person without a heartbeat.
In addition, there was an assignment to develop a project "Promoting the environmental culture for solving the waste disposal problem" and prepare a question for the rival teams on the theme "Water Safety".
