Novosibirsk became the first city in which the filming of a large video project "Strangers in the City" began. Series of documentaries is about former graduates of small provincial schools who have become students of the leading Siberian universities.
The main idea of the project is to show how social mobility through education works in Russia: a real opportunity for young people who have graduated from small villages and rural schools to enroll in the largest institutes and universities in the country. Today's students and university graduates will be spoken of. Filming locations will be 6 regions: Tomsk, Novosibirsk, Omsk, Tyumen, and Irkutsk regions as well as Krasnoyarskiy Krai. The result will be 6 episodes: 6 stories of self-made men – young people who have made and are still making themselves, despite the difficult starting conditions.
The Novosibirsk episode is about Egor Blyk, a sophomore at NSTU NETI. Egor graduated from school in the worker's settlement Linevo near Novosibirsk, the film crew of the project will definitely visit it. Egor will tell the author of the film Sergey Grigoriev how you can quickly get used to the rhythm of a big city after a measured almost rural life, how to become an "insider" at the university and at the faculty, and how to prepare for the Unified State Exam in the most delicious tea house of Linevo.
Vasily Damov, the author of the project and the head of Sibmedia Agency, believes that stories like Egor's can inspire dozens and hundreds of school graduates from small towns and villages to decide on the first "career move" and choose a well-known university in a large city. "Many people think: "This is a big city, no one is waiting for me there." But even if it is so, this is no reason not to go there," says Vasily.
