More than 80 technical-oriented events, 7000 schoolchildren, 200 technology experts — on November 28, at an interregional meeting at NSTU NETI summed up the results of the first stage of the Technologies of the project "Technologies of the First".
The project was created by NSTU NETI with the support of the Russian Movement of Children and Youth "Movement of the First", the Academy of Mentors "Skolkovo" and the Ministry of Education of the Novosibirsk region.
The Technologies of the First project, initiated by NSTU - NETI to involve children and youth in technical projects and develop engineering competencies, started in September with the opening of a Technology Mentoring Center at the university. Within the framework of the project, 200 initiative students and teachers were trained, having received the status of a techno-mentor. Over the course of several months, techno—exhibitions have held more than 80 events for schoolchildren, including engineering competitions, technical quizzes, popular science lectures, master classes and more. Classes were held on topics such as unmanned aerial vehicles, robotics, prototyping, aircraft engineering and aircraft modeling. About seven thousand schoolchildren became participants of the project.
The Technologies of the First project included industrial partners of NSTU - NETI, educational institutions of seven regions of the country — Novosibirsk, Kemerovo, Tomsk, Omsk, Tyumen regions, Altai Territory and the Republic of Buryatia.
More than 500 schoolchildren and technology specialists from Novosibirsk and Omsk regions, as well as the Altai Territory took part in the interregional meeting "Technologies of the First" at NSTU - NETI on November 28. Within the framework of the meeting, tours of the laboratories and specialized classrooms of the university were held, master classes for techno-mentors were held, projects prepared during classes by teams led by a techno-mentor, and summing up with awarding of the project leaders.
Opening the award ceremony, Sergey Chernov, Head of the Technologies of the First project, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of NSTU - NETI, thanked educational institutions that have become regional platforms for training technology specialists and conducting classes.
"The project arose evolutionarily: we, as a technical university, have long been talking about the need to strengthen the positions of physics, mathematics and other exact sciences in schools. And it arose based on our strongest points: knowledge in the field of technical sciences and the main resource of any university — students. The "Technologies of the First" are designed to compensate for the deficits that exist in school, instill a love of engineering, captivate students with physics and mathematics, and simply show that these disciplines are not as difficult as they seem. Having passed the first stage of implementation, NSTU - NETI is ready to scale the Technologies of the First project and involve new schools and regions in it," said Sergey Chernov.
According to the results of the first stage of the implementation of the Technologies of the First project, 12 technical assistants and eight school teams were among the best.
