The second stream of the patriotic project "Forever alive" starts on March 27. During the weekly sessions, the project participants will find out how to surf the internet for the information about their ancestors who participated in the World War II and will make a "Military Path Album". Active pupils and students aged 15 to 25 are invited to the project.
Quite often we know little about front-line biography of our relatives. A few know that there are databases and directories in the public domain where one can track the path of a soldier, find out in which divisions he had served and what awards he had received. However, certain skills of internet surfing are required to use the sources, as well as the ability to "translate" professional military language into common Russian. During this project the participants will be taught how to find information quickly and properly.
Primary data about the soldier are required for the first lesson:
1. Name, patronymic, surname and date of birth.
2. The place of recruitment.
3. Any remaining documents.
4. Any known unsupported data.
5. A photo is desirable.
The partner of the project "Forever alive" is Novosibirsk Museum; it provides the information and methodological support. The found data about the soldiers will be placed later in the electronic record "Novosibirsk Glory Memorial" which contains information about several hundred thousand of our countrymen who went to the front.
The classes will be held once a week, the duration of one class is 2 hours. The participation is free. Active pupils and students aged 15 to 25 are invited to the project. Attention: the number of participants is limited!
