Siberian tournament of young physicists was held at NSU on 28th - 31st, January. 22 teams (127 students) from Moscow, Voronezh, Kemerovo, Novosibirsk regions, the Republics of Buryatia and Yakutia took part in scientific battles.
A few months ago, the participants were offered a list of ten problems presented at the International Young Physicists' Tournament. At the Siberian tournament, the participating teams made a presentation of research problems.
"This year, students investigated the problems, many of which being applied, from different areas of physics. For example, they found out what a moire pattern on the fabric is and how it can be obtained under normal conditions. They answered the questions how the sound of a laser blaster is created in space sagas or how a load with a small weight can stop the load whose weight is larger by the order", said Mikhail Solodovnikov, the President of the public movement "Siberian Tournament of Young Physicists" .
The jury of the competition consisted of physicists of scientific institutes of SB RAS, team coaches and students of leading physical universities of Russia.
The four qualifying fights and the final determined the winners of the tournament: 1 place was awarded to the team of Kolmogorov School AESC MSU "Plan-kapkan"; 2 place was awarded to the team of the Barabinsk secondary school № 93 "Kipyashchiy Lyod (Boiling Ice)-1"; 3 place went to the team of NSTU Engineering of Lyceum "InzheNETIK-1". The winners of the tournament will be able to take part in the all-Russian Tournament of Young Physicists which will be held at the end of March in Simferopol.
Reference: Siberian Tournament of Young Physicists has been held since 2011. For the third year in a row the competition is held by the public movement "Siberian Tournament of Young Physicists" with the support of NSU and AESC NSU.
