On February 1, specialized Industry-based Internet Marketing department started operating at Business Administration Faculty of Novosibirsk State Technical University in cooperation with the Marketing and Service department. NSTU became the first University to open an industry-based department in this subject area in the Asian part of Russia. A specialized department differs from a usual one in that it is opened in cooperation with an enterprise, so that students could learn to solve real production problems and gain workplace experience under the guidance of practitioners. The Industry-based Internet Marketing department of NSTU will work in cooperation with the school of marketing ProEnter, one of the famous schools of Internet Marketing in Novosibirsk.
With the opening of the specialized department, ProEnter the leading practitioners will instruct the students majoring in "Marketing" in such disciplines as "The Basics of Internet Marketing", "SMM", "Digital Marketing", "Direct Marketing". The students are to expect a minimal number of lectures: classes are mainly planned in the form of interactive discussions, games and real case studies. Students will be working mainly in computer classes to master specific skills in internet marketing: creating landing pages, implementing chat bots, properly promoting and scaling their business in the internet and so on. As a result, NSTU students are assumed to graduate as specialists in internet marketing which allows their future employers not to invest in training them at the workplace. The practice of industry-based department at enterprises was widespread during the Soviet Union period. Now NSTU is trying to revive this scheme of students training: 5 new specialized departments are to be opened at the University in 2019.
