NSTU NATI eSports team "NSTU.Gaming" reached the final stage of the all-Russian eSports Student League. It ranked first in the overall standings at the zonal stage scoring 370 points and coming off the second place by 165 points.
All-Russia eSportStudent League is a competition of universities team organized by the Russian Federation of Computer Sports and held throughout the school year. Games are held in five disciplines declared in the All Russia eSport Student League: Dota 2, CounterStrike: GlobalOffensive, Hearthstone, ClashRoyale and Warcraft 3: Reforged. Different players can participate in each discipline. NSTU NETI announced 13 players for the zonal stage.
The qualifying stage was held online: participants played at home computers. The regional stage was held in LAN (local area network) format: all teams gathered in one place and took part in competition. This was done so that teams do not replace the declared players with others. The zonal stage was also supposed to be played in LAN format, but players were forced to play at home due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The competition takes into account the overall indicator at the zonal stage "NSTU. Gaming" took three first places - in Dota 2, ClashRoyale, Warcraft 3: Reforged and two third places - in CounterStrike: GlobalOffensive and Hearthstone.
In the zonal stage, "NSTU. Gaming" won over teams from the Altai State Medical University, Gorno-Altay State University, and Reshetnev Siberian State University of Science and Technology Omsk State Technical University, National Research Tomsk State University, Siberian State Industrial University, and Tuva State University.
"It's a pity that we haven't won the first place in all disciplines, but, as they say, there are no victories without defeats! Now the guys are ready to win not only the all-Russian stage, they are ready to become the first in the world! Now we are actively preparing for the final stage," says Elnur Abbasov, the head of the eSports club "NSTU.Gaming", NSTU NETI.
At the final stage, "NSTU.Gaming" team will compete for the title of champion of the all-Russian eSports Student League and will represent the Siberian Federal district. The team will compete with the winners of the zonal stage from other Federal districts.
The final competition, which will determine the Russian Student eSport champion in each discipline, will be held from June 12 to 15 in Moscow. The competition prizes make up 2,340,000 rubles and are distributed by teams and team members in the following types of programs: Counter-Strike: GlobalOffensive (5v5) — 900,000 rubles, Dota 2 (5v5) — 900,000 rubles, ClashRoyale (1v1) — 180,000 rubles, Warcraft 3: Reforged (1v1) — 180,000 rubles, Hearthstone (1v1) — 180,000 rubles.
