Students of the technical University will participate in the project "Directing interactive tour programs" which is aimed at developing original routes around Novosibirsk. The integration of NSTU, Novosibirsk Museum, and travel agencies resources will bring new "tour" offers to the market as well as help in coping with the lack of qualified guides able to find and explore information, work out routes and competently arrange tours.
The project is managed by Elena Vorotnikova, the author of tour routes, a guide around Novosibirsk and Novosibirsk Oblast, Director of NSTU Museum and teacher. The project team includes Lyubov Zagorskaya, Candidate of Philology, Associate Professor of Business Department and the project manager. One of the customers of the tour is Elena Shchukina, Director of Novosibirsk Museum, the other customer is the travel agency "Basilik-travel". Seven students of Business Department participate in the project: Daria Terekhova, Christina Snegiryova, Elizaveta Karavaeva, Irina Minenkova, Tatiana Antipenko, Daria Savkina and Ekaterina Shurbina.
Interactive tours around Novosibirsk and the region are in line with traditions. The first walking quest tours were developed by Elena Vorotnikova at Business Department in 2004. These and other walking tours have become an integral part of the Novosibirsk Museum brand.
One of the first excursions of the project on the campus will be "It’s all about planes". The project gives tourists an opportunity to learn about the history of the University, unique laboratories of Aircraft Department and the history of aircraft construction. The tour will be included in the number of active routes of Novosibirsk Museum and "Tour Laboratory" of NSTU Museum.
The other tour is called "A friend for a day". This walking tour is for tourists and Novosibirsk residents who want to know the city better: its ambient places, original cafes, cozy galleries and unusual museums. A route for children called "Architecture Quest" is being developed. The children will be able to make a "journey into the past" and get acquainted with Novosibirsk landmarks. The route will be included into the Federal Program "Live Lessons" and provided by the travel agency "Basilik-travel".
The project includes a bus and pedestrian tour dedicated to the history and professions that help to ensure the safety of the city residents. Visitors will be able to attend the interactive Museum of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the canine units of the Internal Affairs Ministry.
The results of the project will be collected in teaching materials; demo videos of routes and tours demonstration are to be created.
