The official launch of NSTU NETI campus system was held on February 11. At the opening ceremony, Anatoly Bataev, Rector of Novosibirsk State Technical University, Vladimir Komlev, CEO, MIR payment system and Vladimir Shaporenko, CEO, Levoberezhny Bank, addressed the students.
"It's an important event for our university, the first step towards establishing a smart campus system to be set up at NSTU NETI". Campus system data will give us a lot of objective information about how our students' flows are distributed, how they use certain University facilities in order to make them even more convenient for our students. An electronic card gives the opportunity to comfortably use different University services, for example, it can be used instead of a paper library card. "I hope that now our students will go there more often!" says Anatoly Bataev, NSTU NETI Rector.
The project was developed by Novosibirsk State Technical University NETI in collaboration with Levoberezhny Bank and MIR payment system. The campus card was issued on the basis of the contactless Mir debit card. First of all, the NSTU NETI campus card should help improve the University's access system in order to increase the security level of students and staff, as well as to ensure the safety of their personal data. At the moment, the campus card can be used as a pass to academic buildings, dormitories, Sports Palace and other buildings of the University, as well as a library card.
The functionality of the campus card can be constantly expanded, thus increasing its usefulness through additional services: access to information resources of the University, such as electronic record book, electronic signature, electronic journal, access to personal account, discounts in the student canteen and preferential public transport travel.
The card can be used not only as a pass to the University and a library card, but also as a financial tool for payroll accounting or scholarships, paying for goods and services without commission, making payments on the Internet, receiving cashback up to 5%, as well as special discounts and offers from partners of Levoberezhny Bank and as part of the loyalty program of the MIR payment system. A nice bonus will be a modern internet banking which ranks second in the country according to Markswebb, and its mobile version which is included in the top 5 mobile banking platforms.
"Today, MIR cards are a popular payment tool in Novosibirsk Oblast, since more than 2 million of them have already been issued, and they are actively used: in terms of transactions made by national payment card holders, the region is in the top 5. Projects such as the campus cards of Novosibirsk State Technical University NETI presented today are a very important area of work for the MIR payment system, since they combine not only a profitable and convenient payment tool in one card, but also make the card an "access key" to important services for students and teachers of the University. And together with our partners, we will continue to work on providing the card with new useful functions," said Vladimir Komlev, MIR payment system CEO.
The infrastructure for the campus system was granted by Levoberezhny Bank. The total cost of the project was 15.8 million rubles.
"Novosibirsk State Technical University NETI and Levoberezhny Bank have been cooperating for almost 30 years, so it is a special honor for us to be a partner of the University in the implementation of such a large-scale project. We made every effort to make the system work. The server for the campus project was specially ordered from the USA. It is important that thanks to the campus card, which is a multi-functional high-tech tool, the private information of its holders will be completely safe, which is guaranteed by our Bank. I hope that NSTU NETI students and employees will appreciate all the advantages of the campus card and will be satisfied using it", said Vladimir Shaporenko, Levoberezhny Bank CEO.
The experience of campus system adopted from the western colleagues is being implemented everywhere in the leading universities, including the capital of Siberia. Campus system have already been implemented in NSU, NSUEM and NSTU NETI. After the launch of the project, more than 14 000 NSTU NETI students received campus cards which are now in active use.
