Student Court competition had the final project presentation on April 28.
The competition is aimed at creation and improvement of NSTU NETI buildings' open spaces and the adjacent areas. In addition, one of the objectives of the competition is to involve all interested parties, and first of all the student community, in the development of the internal and external space of the NSTU NETI campus.
The following objects were presented in the first stage of the competition:
· building 2, 2nd floor foyer;
· building 4, 1st floor foyer;
· building 6, 1st floor foyer;
· building 7, 2 floors foyer;
· building 8, 2 floors foyer;
· the territory between the 1st and 3rd buildings (the place of Sukhoi Su-24 installation).
More than 70 students (13 teams) applied for participation. 9 teams reached the finals.
To help students, there were special lectures by professionals:
· Valentin Krivitsa, the Head Designer of the Information Policy Department, NSTU;
· Igor Sarancha, the founder Is-Urban Architects company;
· Kirill Zubarev, the head of the Boiling Point, NSTU NETI.
Recordings of lectures are available on the NSTU NETI Boiling point channel.
The winner of the competition was the team "Ceramists" representing the Institute of Social Technologies with a "StudFood" project to transform the foyer of the 2nd floor of the 8th building (Artem Vakhrameev, Anastasia Gamm, Anzhela Gorodentseva, Margarita Demenko, Aleksandra Kikhteva, Julia Melekhina, Maria Seroshtanova).
The team has endeavoured to create a modern, functional, open and friendly space that adds identity and creates image for the building of the Institute of Social Technologies.
The teams of Faculty of Humanities and Faculty of Business had prepared the projects for the space of 6th building (1st floor foyer) .
The winner of the project competition for the 6th building was the team "1.5 Billion" of Business Faculty (Vitaliy Prokofiev, Veronika Amonenko, Diana Vaigandt, Daria Kevraletina, Taisia Krivolutskaya, Aleksandra Borodaneva, Anna Martynovich).
Wood and greenery, vertical installations, different types of workspaces and light - that's what the contestants tried to combine in the project. The space will be functional with many seats, vending machine and a table or desk; and an art object and a photo zone will add to a cozy atmosphere.
2nd building (2-floor foyer) received the biggest amount of applications. The teams of Faculty of Power Engineering, Faculty of Mechatronics and Automation, Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science and Institute of Social Technology submitted their proposals. The competition won the project of the "DRIVE" team of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science (Maria Zuenok, Ekaterina Kravets, Maria Sudyarova).
As the key ideas for the concept, the students suggested technology, practicality and mobility, with constructivism taken as the basic style. The slogan of the project was "Laconic forms and functional space”. The style is quite austere, with no luxuries. All the details of the interior should work as a single "clear" space".
A large and multifunctional table with motivational inscriptions is to become the main element of the space.
The project's technology component manifests itself in a computer corner, organizing a virtual queue in a café and installing an interactive board that broadcasts information about the history and achievements of the faculties located in 2nd building - Faculty of Power Engineering and Faculty of Mechatronics and Automation - and the entire university.
For the space of the 7th building (foyer of the 2nd floor), the projects were prepared by several teams of the Faculty of Automation and Computer Engineering.
The winner was the team "Komsomols" (Vlada Redut, Evelina Karpakova, Kirill Vilgelmi).
The students suggested a small set of significant (but not major) space improvements that will make the foyer area more comfortable and friendly, including the installing:
· egg chair and bag chairs to create a recess area;
· transformer couches and tables for the workspace;
· interactive board with class schedule;
· placing a sufficient number of outlets in the workspace;
· improving lighting for comfortable and safe work (due to the lack of daylighting in the foyer).
2 teams worked on the design of the territory between the 1st and 3rd buildings: Aircraft Faculty and a team of students from different faculties.
The winner was the project of the "Cats and Jets" team of the Aircraft Faculty (Ulyana Mezhakova, Marina Kharyushina, Kristina Chernogaeva).
The team tried to consider the territory's several functions, so that Sukhoi Su-24 installation could be useful for different target audiences: students, teachers and guests of NSTU NETI.
The team decided to combine the open space, the recess and information area, expand the footpath, provide the site with sufficient lighting and a number of trash cans.
By their design, the team aims at:
· attracting applicants;
· encouraging the audience to study the history of Aircraft Faculty and Sukhoi Su-24;
· creating a new space for students.
It is necessary to note the teams that, as a result of working on projects, also reached the finals and submitted their projects to the competition: "The POWERful" (Faculty of Power Engineering), "Paintists", "Social Artists"(Institute of Social Technologies), "The Gadgets Hackwrenches" (Faculty of Humanities).
Student projects were evaluated according to the following criteria: the quantity and quality of information for the development of the project; solution's elegance; demonstration and use of the university groundwork; consistency with the university image; availability of information in the project about the space's future use; clarity and variety of possible use; feasibility of the project; presentation of the project.
The competition committee consisted of: Konstantin Mironenkov, Vice-Rector for General Affairs; Zoya Sergeeva, Head of the Information Policy Department; Irina Skalaban, Professor of the Social Work and Social Anthropology Department; Valentin Krivitsa, leading designer of the Information Policy Department; Kirill Zubarev, leader of the Boiling Point of NSTU NETI and Tatyana Ivanenko, external expert, Head of the ANO "Siberian Center for the Promotion of Architecture" .
Congratulations and thanks to the winners, experts, participants and organizers of the contest!
