On January 19, 2021, the teacher of the Confucius Institute of NSTU NETI Zhen Bowen became the winner in the individual championship and was awarded the first prize at the 1st World Competition of micro-lessons in Teaching Chinese.
The competition was organized by Jinan University, Huaqiao University, Tangfeng Science and Education Co., Ltd. (Beijing) in order to actively develop online Chinese language teaching in the world, improve the digital literacy and competence of Chinese language teachers, increase the global attractiveness of the participating organizations, create new models and forms of teaching, create a community of research exchanges in the field of distance Chinese language teaching, promote the creation of high-quality educational resources in Chinese, as well as create a platform for sharing them.
The competition jury consisted of well-known experts in the field of Chinese language teaching from more than 23 countries and regions of the world, who had to select the best mini-lessons of Chinese language teachers sent by 158 participants from 21 countries.
The competition lasted six months. During this period, participants had to register, make sure that their materials comply with the established requirements, finalize the materials, submit them for a comprehensive review of the jury and present the revised materials. The mini-lesson of our teacher Zhen Bowen was recognized as the best and was awarded the first prize by a unanimous decision of the jury.
After the contest was over, Zhen Bowen in her acceptance speech said that the immersion in the competitive process had led to an ongoing rethinking of her personal experience. The competition provided a fresh look at the methods of teaching Chinese language, appearance and demeanor in the classroom, technology of video content creation and many other issues.
Zhen Bowen also noted that by participating in this competition, she has learned a lot and gained experience and inspiration for further work in the field of Chinese language teaching. She is eager to constantly improve herself and share the experience and results with colleagues from the Confucius Institute of NSTU NETI for further development of Chinese language teaching.
