The delegation of Hokkaido University visited NSTU NETI and expressed interest in collaboration

The visit of Hokkaido University delegation (Sapporo, Japan) took place in NSTU NETI in mid-March. The delegation was headed by Professor Okazaki Taichiro. During the visit the Japanese counterparts took a closer look at a number of research areas and educational activities of NETI and its individual divisions. The meetings were attended by Vadim Nekrasov, Vice-rector for international relations; Sergey Brovanov, Vice-rector for Academic Affairs; Vladimir Burov, the head of the Materials Science in Mechanical Engineering Department; Igor Valdman, the head of the Sociology and Mass Communications Department; Olga Zinevich, the head of the International Relations and Regional Studies Department; Denis Kotin, the head of the Electric Drive and Industrial Plants Automation Department and Anastasia Rusina, the head of the Department of power plants.
The representatives of Hokkaido University of spoke about the main activities of their university, detailed the activities within the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, and also talked about training Platform for Japanese-Russian Economic Cooperation and Humanitarian Exchanges (HaRP), the ongoing project in Japan. Japanese visitors met students majoring in "Foreign Regional Studies" who are studying Japanese (Associate Professor Olga Moskvina organized the event), visited the laboratories of the Department of Materials Science in Mechanical Engineering, with Associate Professor Ivan Bataev taking an active part in the presentation of the Department activity. The Japanese guests emphasized the possibility of cooperation between Hokkaido University and NSTU NETI in Engineering and Humanities. The next step of cooperation between universities will be the elaboration of documentation on the possible cooperation agreement.
This visit develops the relation between the two universities which was initiated in 2017 during the joint research project of Sociology and Mass Communications Department of NSTU NETI and the research Faculty of Media and Communication of Hokkaido University devoted to the study of migration and intercultural communication in the Asia-Pacific region. Igor Waldman, the head of the of Sociology and Mass Communications Department of Novosibirsk State Technical University visited Sapporo within the framework of this project by the invitation of Hokkaido University in February of 2019. He presented the joint monograph "Russia and countries of the Pacific Rim: migration processes and problems of intercultural communication. Asia in Russia " (2019).
