On April 28 and 29, the Lyshchinsky Scientific Library of NSTU NETI organized an excursion for the students of Lyceum 176 and school 160 as a part of children's creativity day "The Kingdom of Non-Fictional Sciences".
The kids visited the main loan department, the reading room of rare and valuable books and the Museum of NSTU NETI. During the excursions, students saw the work of high-tech modern RFID equipment, multifunctional stations for self-registration of books, self-return stations with automatic book sorting by library divisions, as well as an automated monorail transport system designed for targeted delivery of books, which overwhelmed the visitors. The work of the radio-frequency equipment, especially the anti-theft gates, also caused genuine amazement among the young guests.
The kids appreciated the attractive balloon chairs: everyone took a photo in them. And, of course, the guests showed the keenest interest in the books and manuscripts stored in the reading room of a rare and valuable books: gilded pages, miniature books left no student indifferent.
In the Museum of NSTU NETI, the guests got acquainted with the history of the university construction, the peculiarities of student life and the atmosphere of the 1950 - 70. They saw unique documents, everyday things, and rare photographs. Among them, there is the restored desk of Georgiy Lyshchinsky, NETI's first rector. The electronic "NETI Examiner" made in 1963 was one of the unique exhibits that attracted the attention of the guests. Small robots NETI and ZOSIA, made more than half a century ago, also amazed the kids.
In the children's science and game lecture hall, students were immersed in a fascinating study of the laws of science and the phenomena of the world around us. Everyone participated in experiments. Interactive exhibits told about electricity, magnetism, demonstrating optical illusions, puzzles, cubes, mazes and much more. The visitors were struck by an unusual object, a chair with nails, which perfectly demonstrated the laws of pressure distribution.
The excursions peaked in awarding the certificates for participation in an art exhibition organized as part of the 2021 NSTU NETI Week of Literature and Arts.
The students expressed their sincere gratitude for the guided tour. They are looking forward to the next meetings with our university.
