The Novosibirsk Municipal Department on social policy, the Agency of social policy development together with the Institute of Social Technologies and Rehabilitation of NSTU set up the project "Social legal consultancy".
The main goal of the project is to make legal aid accessible to the disabled, the elderly and other socially vulnerable categories residents of Novosibirsk. The work of the social legal consultancy will be organized in three directions:
- conducting a series of educational thematic lectures aimed at the formation of legal knowledge in people with disabilities and their relatives, elderly citizens and socially vulnerable categories of the population;
- formation of practical skills in working with electronic legal resources and public services in electronic form;
- engagment and training of volunteers from among students, master students of the Institute of Social Technologies and Rehabilitation of NSTU, representatives of the public ready to provide legal support and help to the residents of Novosibirsk.
Thus, people with disabilities, their relatives, the elderly and other citizens from socially vulnerable categories of the population will be able to get advice from lawyers and learn how to deal with issues and problems that could be solved without addressing to professional lawers. The program includes lectures on financial security (how not to become a victim of fraud), personal financial planning, safe use of Bank cards, practical training on application of the law on consumer protection, the subtleties of passing medical and social examination.
Educational lectures and workshops will be held monthly during the first half of this year at the Institute of Social Technologies and Rehabilitation of NSTU. Legal advice for people with disabilities and their families will be available upon request.
The social legal consultancy will open on February 19. The first lecture will be held at 15: 00 at: Karl Marx Avenue, 20, building 8, auditorium 207 (ISTR NSTU). The lecture is given by the lawyer Yulia Kazantseva (NRPO "Association of lawyers of Russia"), theme — "Medical and social expertise".

Within the framework of the forum "Novosibirsk-the city of limitless opportunities-2018" the work of the section on improving the legal literacy of disabled and elderly people turned out to be very popular. Participants came to a consensus: such work should be carried out on a permanent basis.
