The City Trade Building (the Novosibirsk State Local History Museum) was designed by architect Andrew Kryachkov in 1911 The City Duma, the Treasury and the office of the State Bank were settled on the second floor. On the ground floor there were 12 commercial premises; the warehouses of food and industrial goods were located in the basement. Overlooking the center of the huge Market Square (nowadays Lenin Square), the City Trade Building was the concentration of life of the then small town of Novonikolaevsk. This building designed in the style of Art Nouveau was really unique at that time: being 114 m long, it had a passage for animal-drawn transport. A fire observation tower, crowned by a high "Gothic" dome was built over the passage. Nowadays, the Novosibirsk State Local History Museum is placed in the City Trade Building.
