On November 21-29 2021, the Spartak stadium hall saw the finals of the Novosibirsk Oblast Chess Championship among men and women.
The tournament brought together 34 athletes and took place in 8 rounds according to the Swiss system with separate scoring for men and women.
With a score of 4.5 out of 8, Olga Makarova was the winner among women. She is a 1st-year student of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, NSTU NETI, candidate for Master of Sports in chess.
With a score of 7 out of 8, Evgeny Vasiliev was the champion of Novosibirsk Oblast in 2021 among men. He is a third-year student of the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science, candidate for Master of Sports in chess. Evgeny beat the famous Novosibirsk international master Vladislav Akselrod by additional indicators in the individual scoring, winning a face-to-face competition.
The winners were preparing for the tournament at the Chess School of International Grandmaster Pavel Maletin, a branch of the regional chess school, established at NSTU NETI with the participation of the NGO "Association of Graduates of NSTU NETI" headed by Roman Popov, the International Master, and Alexey Dolgov, Deputy Dean of the Business Faculty, teacher and coach of the NSTU Training and Sports Health Centre, candidate for Master of Sports.
