Residents of the Garage business incubator of NSTU NETI presented their developments at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF). Denis Rublev, the developer of the device that searches micro-earphones in exams, presented the project to Valery Falkov, the Minister of Science and Education, and received his support. Additionally, Denis offered his own understanding of entrepreneurship.
On June 4, the SPIEF hosted a meeting of Valery Falkov, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, with young entrepreneurs who create startups. Entrepreneurs spoke about the problems they face and what they manage to achieve. NSTU NETI was represented at this meeting by the Garage business incubator residents who had already launched businesses or are ready to start within the Startup as a Diploma program:
Anton Yupashevsky, SumOm company producing educational stands and sets for teaching physics and electronics. In 2020, the company's turnover was about 3 million rubles.
Ilya Kazarin, OOO "Smart Siberia", developed the "Smart Hive" system which is installed for collecting, processing data and modeling the life cycle of a bee family in an apiary in the Kolyvan district, Novosibirsk Oblast. There are first sales.
Denis Rublev, sole proprietor "Rublev D. V."; project "Anti-micro-earphone". The developed product identifies students who use micro-earphones in exams. The device was tested in NSMU and NSTU NETI and approved by the Ministry of Education of the Novosibirsk Oblast. A request for consideration has been sent to the Russian Ministry of Education and Science. The first batch was transferred to the Federal Service for Supervision in Education and Science (Rosobrnadzor) for testing.
During the discussion, Denis Rublev's speech aroused a special interest. Rublev outlined his understanding of the entrepreneur ("a person who creates opportunities and takes risks") and presented his project. He addressed the Minister as a decision-maker, who can facilitate the successful implementing of his unique solution. Denis has been waiting for a meeting with a Minister for a year. According to Denis, 72% of students use micro-earphones at exams and 23% of high school students use it at the Unified State Exam. "We will not fly to the stars if we do not solve this problem," Denis said and asked for the support of the ministry to promote his technology. "I risked my name when I created this technology. We can introduce new Unified State Exams, change them, create new business incubators, but any student will "beat" us just for 300 rubles… As an entrepreneur, I have to leave this place with your support, probably with your phone number and with a headache of how to make a billion of anti-micro-earphone devices in a week, " Denis concluded.
Valery Falkov publicly praised the speaker, noting his brilliant speech. "This is a really entrepreneurial type of thinking, in my opinion," he said. He mentioned three important issues, and all to the point. First, an entrepreneur is a person who sees a small opportunity in the market and comes in at the right time, with a certain product. At the same time, a person who has a completely different view can connect the unconnected and create this product. You have been preparing for a long time, found and clearly headed for what you need… Second: we will work on the anti-earphone device, of course. The problem is very serious…And third: we will deal with anti-earphones, but the ideal option is to have such students, that will have earphones on the table in front of them and the opportunity to use them, but the level of the students’ culture will be such that they will not do it. In a real university, these are the students. Because they come not for degrees, but for knowledge. So we need to go in two ways: work to ensure that real universities select their students who do not resort to such technical means, and in the meantime, simultaneously launch an anti-earphone and strictly control the process of taking exams..."
Our residents noted the importance of such forums, where they were able to acquire many new contacts and connections, present their projects and university, and open up new opportunities for further progress.
According to Anton Yupashevsky, participation in such events allows expanding the boundaries of entrepreneurship understanding, get to know more about successful entrepreneurial projects of young people, see the opportunities for developing your product and your startup strategy.
"It was an interesting experience, it was very valuable to get acquainted with peers who have achieved more and are successfully promoting their business based on the developed technologies. New contacts of potential investors and partners are of great value. It's great to have them confirm your development!" said Ilya Kazarin.
"We discussed the problems of the creative industries and the possibility to launch new programs. The Ministry has developed such a program to promote a university platform for technological entrepreneurship and plans to launch it in the near future with the participation of most universities in our vast country," announced Vladimir Falkov, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
